Diving the Crab helped create Kenya’s first artificial reef when in 2002, we salvaged and re-sunk a 470 ton fishing trawler ship, which is now sitting in front of our dive centre at The Sands at Nomad.
The artificial reef has become home to a wealth of coral and fish life over the last 15+ years, and is part of our bucket list of experiences for divers that come to the area. Located just 5 minutes away, the site a great way to see a lot packed into one dive.
Diving the Crab are firm believers in safety being of the utmost importance while diving and we are very proud of our impeccable record.
With 4 custom built dive boats, a total of 60 sets of new diving equipment and 150 dive tanks that are serviced every 6 months by our fully trained resident technician, we are ahead of industry guidelines. Our compressors are capable of filling 28 tanks in a session, and we have received the prestigious accolade of “Pure Air” from Bauer East Africa.
A total of 29 dive sites are within a 40 minute boat ride, which are often accompanied by dolphins, and from November through to February there is the chance to see the gentle giants of the ocean – whale sharks.
Kenya has an amazing array of fish life across its reefs, providing fantastic opportunities for underwater photographers and marine enthusiasts alike.
