The PADI Divemaster internship will start you off on the first step of the PADI professional career ladder. If you love scuba diving and want to share your enthusiasm with others it could be the perfect career for you. At Diving the Crab, Kenya, you will develop your leadership skills as well as learn how to lead underwater activities. Your skills will be polished to demonstration quality in readiness for assisting in courses, you will discover the secrets of mapping dive sites as well as learning how to give dive briefings and guide dives.
You will receive the undivided attention of a highly experienced team to ensure that you receive the best possible training for your Divemaster course from Kenya’s no.1 dive center, whilst working at the dive centre, gaining an insight into how a successful dive school operates.
Accommodation and food will not be provided during the course/internship, however we will be happy to assist with suggestions and finding good deals for the duration of your stay.
Suitable for PADI Dive Masters or those who hold a leadership level certification with another recreational diver training organization.
The PADI IDC is your way of becoming a fully qualified PADI dive instructor. Under the guidance of our course director, you will be taught, and evaluated, on how to teach diving to the next generation of divers. The course includes the Instructor development Course, Emergency First Response instructor course, Training for 5 specialty instructor ratings (for the MSDT), and full use of Diving The crabs facilities and equipment for the duration of the course. The course is led by experienced course director, Peter Herbst.
Peter Herbst (BigB) has been a PADI Open water Scuba Instructor since 1996 and qualified as a PADI Course Director in 2004. He also became a PADI Tek Rec Instructor Trainer in 2005. He trains candidates to become valuable PADI instructors – not just to pass an exam. Teaching methods are open minded, flexible and will instil the necessary confidence to excel in this industry.

Immerse yourself in this incredible experience as you complete over 60 thrilling dives, pool training sessions, and theory classes, whilst working at Diving The Crab as part of our internship program. Working whilst you complete your certifications will provide you with a broader foundation of experience to build on as you progress through your PADI dive career.
The PADI Dive master course is the first step on the PADI professional career ladder. If you love scuba diving and want to share your enthusiasm with others it could be the perfect career for you. If you’re already a qualified Rescue Diver, combining the PADI Dive Master Course with an Internship at Diving The Crab is a fantastic way to earn your certification whilst also gaining first hand experience working in a busy and active PADI dive centre.
From age 8 kids can join the PADI Seal Team program to take their aquatic adventures to the next level. AquaMissions 1-5 cover basic scuba diving skills, about an hour is needed for each one. Once AquaMissions 1-5 are complete the child is certified as a PADI Seal Team member, they will enjoy recording their missions in a special log book.
Next, it’s time for more adventure with a series of 10 Specialty AquaMissions – the young divers can choose adventures like marine creature identification, search and recovery diving, photography and diving with a torch. Upon completion of all 10 Specialty AquaMissions the child becomes a PADI Master Seal Team Member.
Kids who have qualified as PADI Junior Open Water Divers can continue their scuba diving training with PADI and it can be tailor made according to personal interests. Young divers can choose from an extensive list of Adventure Dives such as Peak Performance Buoyancy (the best diving skill to learn for kids and adults alike!), Fish ID, Naturalist and Photography – all from age 10 years, Drift, Search and Recovery and Nitrox from age 12 years and, from age 15, young divers can take part in the wreck adventure dive.
Complete three Adventure Dives and get certified as a PADI Junior Adventure Diver; if five Adventure Dives are completed, including Deep and Navigation, the PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification is achieved.
Young divers, up to the age of 16 years, must always dive with an adult certified diver. Junior Divers aged 10 & 11 are limited by depth considerations and restricted in the dives that they can participate in.

After registering you will have access to the theory and quizzes, once completed, simply print off your eLearning record and bring it with you. Then it’s time for the real fun to begin!
The PADI Junior Open Water Diver course is for kids aged 10 and over who want to gain a qualification in scuba diving. This course is the passport for many years of underwater discovery and a whole lot of fun too. Theory sessions and skills practice in shallow water lead to four exciting open water dives where the incredible reefs and marine life in the Diani Beach Area of Kenya will make this an experience never to be forgotten. The certification is valid anywhere in the world – let a lifetime of magical underwater adventure begin!
10 and 11 year old Junior Open Water Divers will be certified to dive to 12m only. Young divers, up to the age of 16 years, must always dive with an adult certified diver. Upon reaching 16 years of age, Junior Open Water Divers automatically become fully fledged Open Water Divers.

Children aged 10 and over can take part in the PADI Junior Discover Scuba Diving experience. They will learn the basics of diving in the safety of the pool or shallow water near the beach before exploring the incredible reef under the watchful eye of a PADI professional. This is not a certification course and no study is required – making it perfect for families with only a little time to spare.
For children aged 8 and over, who have never tried diving before and are curious about what it’s like to breathe underwater. During the PADI Bubblemaker, kids will learn the basics of diving in the safety of the pool or shallow water near the beach before getting ready to explore under the watchful eye of a PADI professional. The Bubblemaker experience is a fun, safe and unforgettable experience for children.
