From age 8 kids can join the PADI Seal Team program to take their aquatic adventures to the next level. AquaMissions 1-5 cover basic scuba diving skills, about an hour is needed for each one. Once AquaMissions 1-5 are complete the child is certified as a PADI Seal Team member, they will enjoy recording their missions in a special log book.
Next, it’s time for more adventure with a series of 10 Specialty AquaMissions – the young divers can choose adventures like marine creature identification, search and recovery diving, photography and diving with a torch. Upon completion of all 10 Specialty AquaMissions the child becomes a PADI Master Seal Team Member.
Kids who have qualified as PADI Junior Open Water Divers can continue their scuba diving training with PADI and it can be tailor made according to personal interests. Young divers can choose from an extensive list of Adventure Dives such as Peak Performance Buoyancy (the best diving skill to learn for kids and adults alike!), Fish ID, Naturalist and Photography – all from age 10 years, Drift, Search and Recovery and Nitrox from age 12 years and, from age 15, young divers can take part in the wreck adventure dive.
Complete three Adventure Dives and get certified as a PADI Junior Adventure Diver; if five Adventure Dives are completed, including Deep and Navigation, the PADI Junior Advanced Open Water Diver certification is achieved.
Young divers, up to the age of 16 years, must always dive with an adult certified diver. Junior Divers aged 10 & 11 are limited by depth considerations and restricted in the dives that they can participate in.

The PADI Junior Open Water Diver course is for kids aged 10 and over who want to gain a qualification in scuba diving. This course is the passport for many years of underwater discovery and a whole lot of fun too. Theory sessions and skills practice in shallow water lead to four exciting open water dives where the incredible reefs and marine life in the Diani Beach Area of Kenya will make this an experience never to be forgotten. The certification is valid anywhere in the world – let a lifetime of magical underwater adventure begin!
10 and 11 year old Junior Open Water Divers will be certified to dive to 12m only. Young divers, up to the age of 16 years, must always dive with an adult certified diver. Upon reaching 16 years of age, Junior Open Water Divers automatically become fully fledged Open Water Divers.

Children aged 10 and over can take part in the PADI Junior Discover Scuba Diving experience. They will learn the basics of diving in the safety of the pool or shallow water near the beach before exploring the incredible reef under the watchful eye of a PADI professional. This is not a certification course and no study is required – making it perfect for families with only a little time to spare.
For children aged 8 and over, who have never tried diving before and are curious about what it’s like to breathe underwater. During the PADI Bubblemaker, kids will learn the basics of diving in the safety of the pool or shallow water near the beach before getting ready to explore under the watchful eye of a PADI professional. The Bubblemaker experience is a fun, safe and unforgettable experience for children.
The PADI Divemaster course is the first step on the PADI professional career ladder. If you love scuba diving and want to share your enthusiasm with others it could be the perfect career for you. At Diving the Crab, Kenya, you will develop your leadership skills as well as learn how to lead underwater activities. Your skills will be polished to demonstration quality in readiness for assisting in courses, you will discover the secrets of mapping dive sites as well as learning how to give dive briefings and guide dives.
PADI Rescue Divers (or equivalent) may sign up for the PADI Divemaster course and they should have completed a first aid and CPR course (such as the Emergency First Response course) within the last 24 months. Candidates should have a minimum of 40 logged dives to start the course and 60+ to get certified, they also need to have a medical statement signed by a physician within the last 12 months.

Divers who are curious about what happens on the reefs as the sun goes down are the prefect candidates for the PADI Night Diver course with Diving the Crab. Explore the reefs of Kenya as darkness envelopes the underwater world and discover the nocturnal inhabitants by torchlight. As well as learning about how to dive safely at night, learn torch handling and communication techniques, considerations for entering, exiting and navigating in the dark as well as identifying how plants and animals differ or change behaviour at night.
Learn to dive with Nitrox with the PADI Enriched Air Diver course at Diving the Crab, Kenya. PADI’s most popular specialty course makes diving even safer and can be used to extend bottom times, especially useful when making repetitive dives. You will learn about ordering nitrox tank fills and how to analyse the oxygen content of the tank.

Divers who would like to explore dive sites deeper that 18 metres can learn the necessary skills and acquire the knowledge with the PADI Deep Diver Specialty course. During 4 dives divers will gain confidence and learn to dive safely at depths down to 40 metres. The course covers specialised deep diving equipment, deep dive planning, buddy contact procedures and buoyancy control as well as gas supply management, dealing with gas narcosis and safety considerations. Certification as a PADI Deep Diver opens up more dive sites, especially wrecks.
There is a wide range of PADI Specialty courses available at Diving the Crab. In addition to the Night, Deep and Enriched Air Diver Specialties, many more are available on request including Digital Underwater Photographer, Drift Diver, Boat Diver and Fish ID. The individual Adventure dives completed as part of the PADI Advanced Open Water Diver course can be credited as the first dive of the corresponding specialty course.
