Turtle Community

Diani Beach is home to a prolific community of both hawksbill and green sea turtles. We regularly encounter these creatures - one of nature's toughest survivors.

Critters & Macro

Our rich and varied dive sites are packed full with incredible critters and macro life that offer the perfect opportunities for photographers and those interested in the weird and wonderful on the reef.

Funguo House Reef Wreck

With a history spanning 15+ years, Funguo Wreck, located on our house reef at Diani Beach is an amazing oasis of life and a dive site packed with fish life and critters.

The Captivating Whaleshark

Between November and February, we occassionally enconuter whalesharks that come to the waters around Diani Beach. The gentle giant of the ocean is top of many divers’ wishlist of experiences they’d like to have.

Diving Courses

Our experienced and multi-lingual team of diving instructors offer PADI dive courses to help you start your underwater adventures.

Discover Scuba Diving

Taking just a few hours to complete, the PADI Discover Scuba Diving session includes a short theory session and a dive in the pool before heading for a shallow open water dive. Minimum age for participants is 10 years old.

Referral Courses

If you've already completed the theory either at home or online before arriving, we can provide you with the support to allow to complete the open water dives or any other missing elements from your course and obtain your certifcation.

Open Water Diver

The entry level certification that allows you dive anyhwere in the world. The course consists of theory sessions, pool work and 4 open water dives. Minimum age is 10 years old, and the course typically takes 4-5 days to complete.

Advanced Open Water Diver

For those that currently have an Open Water or equivalent certification, the Advanced Course offers you the chance to gain more experience with an instructor across a multitude of interests and activities.

Our Team At Baobab Beach Resort

We are proud of our team. Diving the Crab has built up a substantial staff base of well trained, professional and friendly staff eager to help in giving you a great diving experience. We have 5 instructors Tamlyn, Julien, Samson, Leonard and Evans who will lead the experienced divers and show them marine life the normal eye would easily miss. Our captains and crew have years of experience and our receptionists are friendly and helpful.

Samson has been with Diving the Crab since 2000. He began his underwater journey back in 1990, and fell in love with scuba diving and decided to make a long term career. He not only teaches in English and Swahili, he can also speak German and French! Professional, passionate about diving, Samson is also good at telling jokes!

Swaleh

Swaleh

Divemaster & DSD Leader

Swaleh began his diving career with Diving the Crab in 2006. Swaleh is a PADI Divemaster and true professional under and above the water. Always laughing and always talking, a true entertainer above and below the surface. You will always have a fun time with Swaleh. He enjoys watching movies or football when not diving.

Isaac

Receptionist

Isaac has been with Diving the Crab since 2001. Extremely friendly and always there to welcome you and take your bookings! Isaac was an accomplished windsurfing instructor and has always had a passion for the water since then. In his free time, Isaac enjoys reading and dreaming about his younger windsurfing days!
